The Director of a UK mission agency committed to France comments:-
Due to biased reporting, a major gathering that took place in a large charismatic church in Mulhouse in February has been unfairly blamed for the spread of Covid-19 in France. This has led to threats of extreme violence against the pastor and church members, as well as having damaged the wider reputation of evangelicals in France. Please pray for God’s protection on all concerned and for fairer media coverage, so that the growth of evangelical churches in France might not be hindered.
A ruling by the Council of State in France on 18th May meant that the government is having to lift its ban on gatherings in places of worship (imposed due to Covid-19). The government has until 26th May to publish details about how such gatherings will be able to start again. Give thanks for this clear protection of religious freedom in France and pray that Christians will play their part in respecting whatever measures are necessary to maximise safety for all.
